So, this soda ban. What it is is there is this one dude named Bloomberg. He's the mayor of New York, and he's proposing to lower the rate of obesity in America by making all of the soda containers above 16 ounces illegal.

This soda ban could be a bad idea for quite a few reasns. People will still be able to buy and drink just as much soda as they did before, it would just be in smaller containers. It basically just inconveniences people from buying an extra large size soda. They could still get buy as many 16 ounce sodas as they want to, so what's the point really? Also, if Mayor Bloomberg wants to cut down the obesity in New York by shorting the calorie intake from sugary drink, why just ban soda? Why not ban teas, coffees, and juices above 16 ounces?

Of course, there are some benefits to every bad idea. For example, if people can't buy as much soda as before, and they realize that they're losing weight and becoming healthier, then they might want to start making healthier changes to their lifestyle. I think this is the idea that Bloomberg has put into this ban.

My personal opinion about this ban is that's it's pointless. I think it's a waste of time. Treying to reduce the rate of obesity jst by cutting down on the size of your soda is a long shot. Because it's not like only extra large sodas is the only benefactor for obesity. It's lso a general lack of excersize and physical fitness, over-eating, too many calories in daily meals, side snacking, and so much more. Cutting down soda sizemight help a small bit, but in the long run of things it won't do much. people have to want to be healthy.
